Kanata Health Solutions Inc. is led by an experienced Board:

 

 

AL GOURLEY (Chairman)

Al has played a leading role in building several technology companies during the past 20 years as CEO and Director as well as in other senior executive positions. He is also Past Chairman of Deal Generator, an investor group focused on technology companies, and Director of several such companies. Previously, Al practiced as a management consultant for about 18 years, 12 of which as a partner and practice director of Woods Gordon (now Ernst & Young). Al holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta and is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Alberta, a Life Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta and a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

 

 

WAYNE KARPOFF (Director)

Wayne Karpoff is CEO of WillowGlen Systems. Previously, he was the co-founder and CTO of Edmonton-based YottaYotta Inc., a dominant player in next generation, geographically-deployed storage and data management technology, where he raised over $90 million in equity financing. At YottaYotta, Wayne held a number of senior management roles. Prior to this, Karpoff was president and founder of Myrias Computer Technologies Inc., a world technology leader in parallel supercomputing technology. He also worked and taught at the University of Alberta where he also received his BSc and MSs in Computing Science.

 

 

MASAKO MIYAZAKI (Director)

Presently an Associate Professor in Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta, Masako is a recognized leader in rehabilitation medicine and telehealth. She established a non-profit stroke rehabilitation unit at the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. In 1996, she was appointed as the Director of the Coordinating Council of Health Science (CCHS) Telehealth Centre to start the first Telehealth program between Two Hills Health Care Centre and the University of Alberta. Dr. Miyazaki established and lead the Telehealth Technology Research Institute at the University of Alberta from October of 1998 to 2001. In 2002, she launched a multimillion dollar project with multidisciplinary team of scientists at the University of Alberta; Sapporo Medical University; Canadian companies and Japanese companies. She has published and presented her work at professional conferences globally over 114 times. Her research and development focus on technologies to promote healthy environment, healthy food, prevention of illness, promotion of health, health community, and enhanced healthcare delivery.

 

 

TOM OGARANKO (President)

Tom Ogaranko is President of Kanata Health Solutions Inc. Previously, Tom was co-founder of Redengine Inc. and filled the position of CEO. He has participated in the formation of 5 companies, 2 government agencies and 1 government Ministry. Tom brings a proven track record of success to his role as CEO. Highlights of Tom’s business and management achievements include growing Redengine Inc. from its inception with no seed capital to a business with annual sales of approximately $1.3M, profits for 5 of its 7 years and 18 international, national and regional awards. Tom designed the business case for creating the a $350 million Office of the Chief Information Officer for the Alberta Government Cabinet, designing its governance model, business plan and a government-wide information resource management strategy. Tom also designed the Government of Alberta’s ICT Strategy in 1998 and saw it funded to approximately $750M and drafted the Alberta Science and Research Authority Act and structured its first investment fund. Tom has been an active member of several community and Industry Boards and has been nominated for and won several leadership awards.
